Choose non-toxic ingredients

Skincare should never harm your health
Every day, we apply dozens of products to our skin: cleansers, creams, serums, makeup, deodorant... But have you ever taken the time to look at what they truly contain?
More and more women are realizing that certain cosmetic ingredients, although permitted, still raise questions in scientific research.
They don't make a product dangerous overnight, but their daily accumulation can disrupt the skin's natural balance.
At Browgeous, my mission is simple: to help you feel beautiful, confident, and safe, without compromising your health.
The two main families of cosmetic ingredients to watch out for
1. Endocrine disruptors
These are ingredients that can interfere with the body's natural hormones and weaken hormonal balance over time.
They are often found in:
- Preservatives: parabens, phenoxyethanol, BHA, BHT
- Certain chemical sunscreens: oxybenzone, octocrylene, homosalate
- Synthetic fragrances: listed simply as “Fragrance” or “Parfum”, without details on their composition
2. Potentially carcinogenic ingredients
They don't cause cancer after a single use, but their long-term accumulation is concerning.
Avoid as much as possible:
- PEGs, PPGs, polysorbates – may contain 1,4-dioxane, a contaminant classified as a possible carcinogen
- Sodium Laureth / Lauryl Sulfate (SLES / SLS) – irritating detergents found in several cleansers and shampoos
- Triclosan – controversial antibacterial, linked to hormonal disruptions
- Formaldehyde and its derivatives (DMDM hydantoin, imidazolidinyl urea, quaternium-15…)
- Microcrystalline wax, paraffin, mineral oil – petroleum derivatives, susceptible to containing impurities (PAHs) if poorly refined, and not very beneficial for the skin in the long term
How to easily spot risky ingredients?
- Read the full ingredient list of a product
- Use an app like Yuka or Think Dirty to quickly identify ingredients that no longer deserve a place in your routine.
